IDAHO at http://fishandgame.idaho.gov/
Idaho has some of the best and most varied hunting in the west! From the trophy species of moose, bighorn sheep and mountain goat to the more often hunted deer (mule deer AND whitetails), elk and antelope, Idaho covers it all.

AFTER YOUR GAME IS DOWN???
If your outing goes as hoped, you'll be faced with the most overlooked aspect of elk hunts -- butchering and packing your trophy to civilization. A lot of elk meat has been ruined and , laws violated -- by hunters that planned to kill, but not for the
"labor " that comes afterwards.
After pictures are taken, I begin boning the carcass immediately. I lay the boned meat in a shady, cool area and allow it to cool (sometimes overnight) before bagging
It is my practice to carry all the essentials (camera, tripod, knives and sharpener, bone saw and game bags (at least 8) for the preperation of a dead game animal for transport, with me.
.
Whether or not the meat will be transported by two-legged, four-legged or four-wheeled means is important to consider before going afield. Failure to make proper provision for this aspect of the hunt has led to more
ruined meat than all other reasons combined. Prepare properly, so that your entire experience doesn't end up soured.
